To achieve the goals of accessible, sustainable, and inclusive 15mC neighbourhoods in urban outskirts, a structured planning approach is essential. The Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) process provides a comprehensive framework to guide cities through the development and implementation of effective mobility strategies. This page outlines the four key phases of the SUMP process, each designed to address specific aspects of urban mobility planning.
Begin at step one, or use the four phases below to jump straight to the step you are working on now. Every page here is open to read without an account.
Preparation and analysis
Strategy development
Measure planning
Implementation and monitoring
The four phases run as a cycle. Review and learn lessons feeds back into the next round of preparation and analysis.
See the process in practice across the six DREAMS Living Labs, or read the canonical framework this journey adapts, the EU SUMP 2.0 Guidelines on the EU Urban Mobility Observatory.
