|description=The SHARE-North Squared & DREAMS Symposium, held on October 1, 2025, at Paushuize, Utrecht, gathered planners, researchers, housing experts, and mobility practitioners to explore how shared mobility and housing developments can shape the outskirts of the 15-minute city. The event was organized by the Municipality of Utrecht and the University of Twente, with the collaboration of the Share-North Squared and DREAMS partners, and brought together more than 70 participants from across Europe working towards healthier, more accessible urban living.

The afternoon began with introductory talks setting the scene for Utrecht’s ambitious goals: achieving healthy urban living while maintaining zero growth in car traffic and becoming a 10-minute city.

Kristof Penders (Woonmaatschappij Rivierenland - Woonland) opened with insights from the SHARE-North Squared project, highlighting the importance of integrating shared mobility within social housing projects. Karst Geurs (University of Twente) followed with an overview of the DREAMS project, discussing how shared mobility can enhance accessibility in the city’s outskirts.

Liselotte Bingen (Gemeente Utrecht) then presented Utrecht’s Spatial Strategy, outlining the city’s vision for sustainable expansion and mobility integration. Sven Huijsman (The New Drive) shared practical experiences with shared e-bikes in Utrecht, while Niek Verlaan (Gemeente Utrecht) presented the initiative “Mobility for All” (Vervoer voor Iedereen), focused on ensuring inclusive access to mobility options.

After a coffee break, participants joined one of four interactive workshops, each tackling a key challenge in the transition towards more sustainable and inclusive outskirts:
•	Workshop 1: Business models for shared mobility in urban outskirts – led by Stephanie Geertman (Hogeschool Utrecht)
•	Workshop 2: Shared mobility & accessibility in the 15-Minute City – Decision Support Tool – facilitated by Bartosz McCormick (TU Munich)
•	Workshop 3: Mobility Exploitation Fund – Case Lunetten – presented by Thomas van Oosten (Stadkwadraat)
•	Workshop 4: How to reach out to the target group – guided by Niek Verlaan (Gemeente Utrecht)

The event concluded with a recap and reflection session, followed by networking drinks, offering participants a chance to continue discussions on innovative approaches to shared mobility and housing integration in suburban contexts.
The Utrecht Symposium showcased the city’s pioneering role in creating sustainable, inclusive, and accessible neighbourhoods — advancing the shared vision of the DREAMS and SHARE-North Squared projects for resilient urban outskirts across Europe.
|description=Transitioning to the 15-minute neighbourhoods: Decision Support Tools and Resilient Business Models
The DREAMS Symposium, held on March 14, 2025, at the Région Île-de-France offices, Paris, brought together transportation planners, practitioners, researchers, and innovative thinkers to discuss about the progress of the DREAMS Decision Support Tool and brainstorm about new resilient business models for the urban outskirts. The event was hosted by Heythem Adjeroud and Alain L'Hostis (Université Gustave Eiffel) along with Dany Nguyen-Luong and Élie Guitton from L'Institut Paris Region (IPR).
The event began with Karst Geurs introducing the DREAMS project and providing insights into both published and upcoming deliverables. Élie Guitton presented an overview of the growth of shared mobility in the Île-de-France region, while Valerie Belrose shared reflections on the implementation of the 20-minute region concept and the strategic guidelines of the new 2040 master plan for the region (SDRIF-E).

Then, Heythem Adjeroud introduced the Paris DREAMS Living Lab activities, while Ana Clara Caixeta Szymanski Nogueira, Bartosz McCormick, Benjamin Büttner and David Duran Rodas (TUM) led a workshop on the DREAMS Decision Support Tool for Planning the 15-Minute City.

Lastly, Guillem Leroux and Anna Porcher (pony), and Nadia Goupil (Fifteen - Augmented Bike Networks) presented their respective shared mobility services, highlighting their different approaches and sharing valuable operational feedback.

The event concluded with a business brainstorming workshop led by Stephanie Geertman, Daniela Arias Molinares and Jelten Baguet, focused on co-creating business models for the urban outskirts and the 15-Minute City.
|description=The DREAMS Symposium, held on October 11, 2024, at TUtheSky, Vienna, brought together transportation planners, practitioners, researchers, and innovative thinkers to discuss transformative strategies for the 15-Minute City concept in urban outskirts. The event was hosted by Linda Dörrzapf (TU Wien) together with Yusak Susilo (BOKU) and moderated by Roman Klementschitz (BOKU).

The event began with presentations addressing the "15-Minute City" concept, emphasizing strategies for improving accessibility in newly developed areas outside city centers. Maximilian Jäger from AustriaTech introduced the "Driving Urban Transitions" (DUT) program goals and approaches. Following this, Lukas Lang from the City of Vienna, presented the new development area RothNEUsiedl and its strategies for applying 15-minute city principles. Can Yönter from the Vienna Business Agency discussed funding mechanisms to support local services within neighborhoods.

Project insights were shared from ongoing DUT projects. Anna Kajosaari and Michael Kloiber from the Austrian Academy of Science provided insights into the AccessCity4all project which aims to enhance the 15-minute-city concept by considering diversity of people’s mobility needs and the spatial heterogeneity of neighbourhoods. Karst Geurs shared findings from the DREAMS project. A Zoom-In session led by Linda Dörrzapf focused on the challenges and potentials of the Vienna DREAMS Living Lab Location, alongside information for a subsequent site visit presented by Simon Bohun from Stadtland. The Living Lab serves as a hands-on opportunity to implement 15-minute city strategies, offering a real-world setting for research and innovation.

Following a coffee break, three parallel workshops facilitated discussion and co-creation around methodologies, business models, and decision-making tools for the 15-Minute City. The sessions included:
•	Workshop 1 focused on assessing the impact of 15-minute cities through KPIs and methodologies, hosted by experts from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and BOKU.
•	Workshop 2: was a collaborative brainstorming session to develop business models tailored to the needs of urban outskirts, led by Mpact and Hochschule Utrecht.
•	Workshop 3 explored a decision-support tool designed to aid planners in implementing the 15-minute city model , presented by TU München.

The workshops concluded with brief summaries from session hosts, highlighting key insights and practical ideas for fostering outskirts.

After a networking lunch, which included a poster walk, participants joined a guided tour of the Vienna Living Lab at Wiener Flur – organized by Philip Krassnitzer and Simon Bohun. This visit allowed attendees to observe firsthand how the 15-minute city concept could be adapted to Vienna's unique outskirt, with insights into its challenges and opportunities.
The event emphasized both theoretical frameworks and practical approaches to support the 15-minute city model. The DREAMS Symposium provided an engaging platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange on creating sustainable and accessible urban outskirts – bringing together international and Viennese stakeholders from the field of transportation practice and research.
|description=The SHARE-North Squared & DREAMS Symposium, held on October 1, 2025, at Paushuize, Utrecht, gathered planners, researchers, housing experts, and mobility practitioners to explore how shared mobility and housing developments can shape the outskirts of the 15-minute city.

The Utrecht Symposium showcased the city’s pioneering role in creating sustainable, inclusive, and accessible neighbourhoods — advancing the shared vision of the DREAMS and SHARE-North Squared projects for resilient urban outskirts across Europe.
|description=On 5 March 2025, the DREAMS consortium hosted a stakeholder symposium in Budapest, bringing together researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas on accessibility, mobility, and inclusive development in urban outskirts The symposium took place at Budapest University of Technology and Economics and opened with welcoming remarks and keynote presentations introducing the current state and vision of the transport network in Budapest, the goals of the DREAMS project and some preliminary results.

Participants of the symposium were then introduced to the DREAMS Accessibility Tool (DAT) developed by DREAMS partners in an interactive workshop. This tool allowed practitioners to easily identify black spots in urban outskirts were sustainable access to amenities were lacking. Furthermore, practitioners were shown how the tool can be adjusted to fit their needs, by changing user preferences and thresholds.

In the workshop, participants reflected on challenges such as data availability, mapping urban amenities, and identifying underserved areas within cities. The discussion also explored ways to improve the visualization and usability of DAT to better support planners, policymakers, and local stakeholders.
The symposium also featured presentations from several related European research projects working on sustainable and proximity-based urban development. Projects such as COLINE, NextGenMobility, 15minESTATES, PROWD, and InclusiveCity presented their ongoing work and research perspectives. These presentations highlighted different approaches to improving urban accessibility, mobility, and neighbourhood-level services, all contributing to the broader vision of more liveable, inclusive, and sustainable cities. The session provided an opportunity to exchange experiences across projects and identify potential synergies, particularly around the implementation of 15-minute city principles and accessibility-oriented planning.
The symposium concluded with lunch, networking opportunities and informal discussions, helping to strengthen collaboration between project partners, stakeholders, and representatives of related initiatives.
